Hectic lifestyle of individuals has its impact on the families. Very little time is available for household chores, when the working life becomes rigorous.  People are now in constant search of mechanical devices to eliminate manual work. Washing machine is one among many appliances that are invented, upgraded and automated in order to offer the users relief from the grueling work schedules at home.

freestanding-washing-machine Free Standing and Built-in Washing Machines There are innumerable models and brands of washing machines available today for the consumers to choose from, according to their preferences.  It all depends on the requirements of the family or users. If large number of clothes is to be washed daily the capacity of the machine has to be correspondingly large. Size of the drum and energy efficiency are some of the factors that are to be taken into consideration while choosing a machine. In wet or humid climate the user will require dryers also. Standard machines are comparatively cheaper, but when the consumer looks for convenience, machine with special features is to be chosen.  Again space it occupies is an important factor.  People living in apartments prefer smaller units so as to fit into the available space without any hindrance for free movements.

Free standing washing machines are generally of two models: Top loading and front loading.  Both semi and fully automatic washing machines are available, but fully automatic ones are expensive. Front loading machines are of simple mechanism when compared to top loading ones.  The machine with front loading facility is preferred by those who want to install it in small living places and that too under kitchen worktop as a space saving option.  Most of the free standing washing machines are equipped with dryers also. Fully automatic machines are programmed for different types of clothes with different spin speeds.  Temperature and quantity of water are regulated according to the texture and number of clothes to be washed.  The free standing washing machines can be placed anywhere subject to the availability of space and can be moved to another place if required without difficulties.

Free Standing and Built-in Washing Machines Built-in washing machines are generally of front loading type, as it has to be accommodated in specific, pre-decided space.  Loading and off loading will be more convenient through the front, especially when the machine is placed concealed or camouflaged among other appliances and furniture. Built-in washing machines are expensive.

Combined washer dryers are ideal for modern homes especially when they are completely automatic. Modern products come with timers which alert the user once the operation is over and the whole washing and drying process can be programmed in advance according to the user’s convenience.
