The early washing machines used to work with gasoline cylinder engines that had a low speed washing level to wash cloths. The early washing machines required a lot of hand unlike the new ones which are completely automated.

There are 2 types of washing machines available and they are top loader and front loaders. Washing machines, which has a lid open on top for the cloths to be put is called as a top loader washing machine. This is more comfortable for the people who are really busy and does not have much time to spend washing their cloths. This machine requires less time to finish the washing process.

The disadvantages of these machines are that they require a lot of water and electricity. Since, the washing is done in a high speed the clothes might get damaged pretty soon.

The top loader washing machine uses a central agitator to have an uninterrupted process of washing. The washing machines, which have a lid in its front for the cloths to be put are called a front loader washing machine.

These machines are mainly used for commercial purpose. These machines require less water and electricity. The sizes of these machines have been reduced to a smaller size for the house hold purpose.

It was already mentioned that this machine requires only 25-60 percent of water and electricity compared to the top loaders.

These machines have adopted a system of tumbling wash, which is similar to the hand wash. You will have to bend and then load the cloths unlike the top loader in which you can stand and load.

The water level in the front loader can be increased or decreased. Before starting the process the lid of the front loaders has to be locked for starting the process.
