At least five Candy washing machines burst in Germany when they had been operated. First two bursts took place in home. From these accident one person sustained minor injury and the debris spread over nearly three meters. Fortunately there were no report of any casualties. These incidents were typically described as explosion by the eye witnesses who were present at the scene. Upon investigation these accidents occurred because of a faulty drum seal that caused the drum to break during the spin and splitting the roof of the machine. Candy spokesman reportedly said that the cause of the incidents were due to the fact drum production anomaly that was corrected in September 2009, simultaneously after these two explosions took place, two other Candy washing machines burst out when they were tested by Stiftung Warentest, the German Consumer Association. The fifth Candy washing machine is said to have the same fault that blew up in the laundry of a German jail.
Candy spokesman reported the machines that were bought before September 2009 only are going to fall under the risk category and they have also given a customer care number 0844 499 5599 to contact should any issues or problems rise.
