DOE adopts more efficient standards for washing machine

washing machine DOE adopts more efficient standards for washing machineNews from WASHINGTON conveys that DOE, the Department Of Energy have issued a rule stating the need for generating a capacity of 18MW should be eliminated within a period of next 30 years. The new standards set for the machines is expected to see a decrease in water and energy cost between $50 and $100. This saving can gradually lead to an increase of $214 averagely which could be later used for purchase and installation of top loading washing machines.

Standards that were adopted on 2007 states that the top loading washing machines should have 1.26 cubic feet of wash load capacity consuming not more than 9.5 gallons of water per kilowatt. While the new standards set have increased the wash capacity by 1.60 cubic feet and decreased water consumption to 8.5 gallons. Front loading washing machines are said to be more efficient than top loaders as it washes 3 cubic feet of wash loads with just 5.5 gallons of water. DEO added that the set standards is about to go in effect in 2013.
