Failure to match-up the requirements of the standard energy labels, has forced the company Candy to stop the production of a specific washing machine model. Incompliance with the energy standards was revealed when National Measurement Office (NMO) carried out an investigation.
As per the investigation reports, GO482/2 washing machine of Candy consumes 7% more energy that what it claimed. The company has also stated an ‘A’ grade spin performance on the label whereas in actual the washing machine delivered ‘B’ class spin performance. Candy has advertised 1,400rpm spin speeds but in practice it offered just 1,300rpm spin speeds.
EU energy labels offers ratings for wash performance, spin drying performance and energy efficiency. For instance, if EU energy label on the washing machines suggests ‘AAA’ then the device provides excellent performance in all the three aspects.
