Sanford Health Centre in South Dakota, US has introduced the state’s largest washing machine for the use of its employees and visitors. The washing machine is expected to measure about 11 feet in height. It is stated that this mega wash appliance has the ability to wash about 11,340 kg of wash load within seven hours. The aim of this washing machine project is to reduce the usage of detergent and water and saving up to $150,000, per year.
Sanford Health spokesperson Jolene Loetscher stated that the wash load is sorted into 68kg sacks along with a microchip card and are transported on a over head track system. The microchip card in each sack instructs this mega washing machine about the need of the wash and then the device automatically engages wash settings according to the need. This mega washing machine is believed to automatically load themselves, execute the entire wash process, dries and folds within 30 minutes. This washing machine is also expected to support infection control.
