Choose delicate wash cycle
By choosing the delicate wash cycle, you can clean your delicates effectively with gently care. It protects the delicate garments from damages and keeps them in good condition. When you select the medium water setting or gentle cycle, the drum is prevented from intense spinning.

Once the delicates are washed you can dry them in the machine for just 15 to 30 minutes. Do not use the dryer for drying the clothes completely. After the clothes are dried partially you can hang them under sunlight. By keeping in mind these tips you can free yourself from washing the delicates manually.

While the machine is on fill part, the switch contacts water control valves provided at water inlet, so that water fills in the washing machine. Front loading washers have gained popularity in recent years. It has perforated cylinder made of aluminium or steel that is porcelain-enamelled. The tumbler method contains the clothes in the tub and rotates it in water. Inside the cylinder there are projections or baffles made to move the clothes well in water. When the clothes reaches a certain position they fall down, and the process goes on.

Generally tumble washers are front loading; however there are some which can take clothes from top or from a particular angle. The clothes tumble in the soapy water in wash cycle, slowly. When the damp-dry cycle is reached the cylinder rotates fast, throwing water off from clothes. Gears in the washing machine aid the fast and slow rotation of the machine.

Washing machines with agitator and tumbler need hot as well as cold water. The temperature of the water is controlled using a thermostat that operates on simple principle. You can use the switches to turn cold or hot water as required. If both switches, hot and cold, is turned on, you will get warm water.

A pump and an electric motor are incorporated in automatic washers. The motor runs clockwise in spin operations and while pumping water out. During agitate-rinse cycle and wash cycles the tumbler turns anti-clockwise. When the rinse cycle is done, water is pumped out, after which rinse cycle begins. The transmission tube of spin gets disengaged here, preventing the spinning of the basket. When the pump out procedure is about to complete, a solenoid frees the clutch spring to make spin basket revolve to haul out water from clothes. All through the pump out and spin time, the clockwise revolving of the motor frees the clutch.

Solenoids run the gear and clutch arrangements, detergent application, water flow control etc in automatic washers. However, the overall control is with the timer. The user selects a section of the control, and the timer or control presets the automatic action of the washing machine.

First of all, separate whites and coloured clothes. Clothes in pastel shades can be washed along with whites as they will not run. Dark-coloured clothes should be strictly separated from whites.

Secondly, you can turn the coloured clothes so that the good side goes in. Fading of colour on the good side can be reduced and bleeding of fabric dye can be controlled, by this action.

When washing coloured clothes which are new, immerse them in warm water mixed with ½ cup of clean white vinegar, for an hour. Often acid-based dyes are used in clothes, and vinegar will help to set the dye. If your clothes have berry-based dye on them, salt and water mixture will set the dye, so that the fabric does not bleed. The clothes should be soaked for a minimum of 1 hour. This is the third tip.

Avoid using detergents with bleaches. Bleaches will make colours fade. A washer should do the cleaning without the help of bleach. The fourth tip to be remembered while you wash coloured clothes is this.

Fifthly, wash colour clothes only in cold water. Hot water can prompt dyes to bleed. Cold water will help to set the dye.

When the washing procedures are done, take your clothes out and hang it up for drying. The moisture content in the washed clothes may make the dye run, if they are left without drying. This is the sixth golden step.

Finally, when drying clothes, ensure you do not hang whites and coloured ones nearby. Always hang the whites on one side of the line and coloured ones on the other.

If you follow these tips, your whites will stay sparkling white and coloured clothes fresh and new.
