In 1970 at the World Expo in Osaka, Japan, the worlds leading consumer electronic manufacturer, The Sanyo relieved its Ultrasonic Bath Washing Machine. The machine was fully automatic and pod shaped that can clean, dry and massage the user as long as 15 minutes. The user has to user a ladder that measures 6 feet tall to get into the washing machine. The desired temperature is been set before the main is switched on.

As programmed, the pre rinse cycle begins to spray spurt of warm water for about 5 minutes to the user. While the chamber gets filled with warm water, the machine starts massaging the user for about 3 minutes. The ultrasonic wave generator that is been equipped with the washing machine produces a delicate fog of small air bubbles to remove dirt from the skin. Next is a 2 minute hot rinse cycle. Finally the dry cycle begins that blows warm air into the chamber for about 5 minutes to dry out the skin completely. Infrared and ultraviolet light accompanies the dry cycle and destroys lingering germs.

The ultra bath concept was not a big success and did not reach any home. Sanyo again came out with HIRB (Human In Roll-lo Bathing) system that was aimed at elderly homes and costed about $50,000 which was also not a success.
