Sorting clothes
For best results, sort the clothes based on the colour and fabric. Load the light coloured or white clothes together. Do not mix dark coloured clothes and white clothes together. Also make sure that heavy and light fabrics are washed separately as they need to be washed at different settings.
Adding detergent and bleach
Before loading your clothes, add detergent. Instructions on the detergent box will help you to know how much detergent and water should be added. Generally, detergent goes first to the washing machine.
When needed, always use special fabric softener or bleach recommended for your washing machine. Similarly, the details on the bleach package will also let you know how much bleach should be used.
Loading clothes
Make sure the clothes are not loaded tightly in the washing machine as this may slow down or stop the agitator. As a rule the clothes should be loaded up to the top holes in the steel tub.
Washing settings
After closing the lid, use the right settings based on the colour, fabric, durability and weight of the clothes to be washed. Make sure that you use correct temperature settings for water. For instance, use cold water for coloured fabrics and hot water for white or light coloured clothes.
Switch on the washing machine
Now, turn on your washing machine. Depending on duration of the wash cycles, it will wash the clothes and automatically turn itself off. Then, take the washed clothes out from the washing machine.
Other tips on safe washing
- When washing machines are not used for prolonged time, remove the water faucets (valves) as this will prevent any leakage occurring on valves and hoses.
- While loading the clothes, make sure that there are not hard objects like nails or screws in the pockets. This will prevent the damage of the drum by these things.
- Make sure the clothes to be washed do not contain inflammatory substances.
- When your washing machine has not been used for a fortnight, turn on hot water valves and this will eliminate the hydrogen gas collected in the water heater.
